Bartec Auto-ID Ltd gain Queen's Award for Enterprise 2005

Bartec Auto-ID Ltd have beaten off French, German and US competition in the highly competitive worldwide automotive market for Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems. The company's efforts in increasing its exports by 215% in the past three years have resulted in it winning the Queen's Award for Enterprise 2005.

Bartec have developed radio frequency identification technology and applied it to vehicle production lines to read the sensors incorporated in the tyre inflation valves which, under running conditions, warn drivers of under-inflated tyres. This data is used in the manufacturing process to feed the Bartec line-side test equipment that records this important safety related data that validates the correct operation of the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. Bartec have installed their production test equipment in 54 plants worldwide to customers including Renault, Nissan, Daimler-Chrylser, GM, Ford, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Isuzu, Hyundai, Kia and Volvo.

A vigorous promotional programme of market research, overseas visits, demonstrations, direct negotiation, working parties and seminars have secured a market leading position.

The US Senate has recently passed a Statute decreeing that all passenger carrying vehicles will have TPMS technology fitted by 2008. Bartec USA LLC has been set up to exploit this opportunity.

Colin Webb, Managing Director, said "the award is an acknowledgment of the tremendous team spirit and commitment of management and staff at Bartec Auto-ID and will further enhance our credibility with our US and Far East customers in particular"
