SideEffect Goes HDBBIC's 'SideEffect studios' have recently upgraded their online editing facility with the capability of handling high definition (HD) formats. Using Blackmagic's HD video card and a 1.5 terrabyte storage system, the suite can handle all types of HD format including Sony's newest release HDV. High definition gives a much clearer picture quality than the current standard definition picture seen on television sets in the U.K. The picture is also larger which allows it to be projected onto large screens without any loss in quality. Major TV networks in Japan and the USA are already broadcasting HD programmes into living rooms. Sky TV expect to follow suit in the U.K. later next year, with the BBC hoping that everyone will have the ability to receive HDTV by 2010. Due to these recent developments and the inherent advantages of HD, SideEffect can now offer the highest quality corporate video/CD/DVD work at extremely competitive rates. In addition to state-of-the-art editing and post-production facilities, SideEffect are the first studio in the north of England to achieve full authorised Apple training status on their industry leading video production software. The recent acquisition of Apple's award winning 'SHAKE' high-end compositing system (as used in Gladiator and Lord of the Rings) keeps SideEffect at the forefront of post-production technologies and on a par with many Soho based facilities.
